Dive # 232

Date: 2/17/06
Time: 6:00am
Location: Shaw's Cove/Crescent
Depth (feet): 32
Dive Time (minutes): 51
Surf (feet): 0-1
Surge (feet): 1-2
Water Temp (fahrenheit): 57
Visibility (feet): 20+
Visibility Description: Much clearer than it's been in some time
Notes and Highlights: Dove with Pablo Ducuron - Lake Laguna - easy in and out. Didn't see a whole bunch of cool stuff, but the water conditions were really nice. Swam through the arch over to Crescent - went through the "window", and then a nice leisurely swim around the reef - back to the Shaw's Cove side. Took some pretty horrible pictures (still photos are not my strong point) - below are the more bearable ones...

Dive # 231

Date: 2/8/06
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Treasure Island
Depth (feet): 32
Dive Time (minutes): 30
Surf (feet): 3+
Surge (feet): 3-4
Water Temp (fahrenheit): 59
Visibility (feet): 5
Visibility Description: Miserably turbid
Notes and Highlights: Dove with Len Wittrock, Erik and Mike Wade - returned to the scene of the crime...conditions from the top looked as if they should be quite a bit better. Technically they were, but the visibility was still pretty horrible - kinda like running on high-beams through a locust storm with all the crap in the water. Dive was cut short (nobody cried) as Mike was testing a HyrdoOptix mask which did not work for him. Len did manage to snag a respectable bug (see the pics below) - happy to say that it now resides in my freezer, as he did not want it - I've no issue with crustacean charity.

Surge (feet): 6+
Water Temp (fahrenheit): 56
Visibility (feet): 0-2
Visibility Description: Champagne bubbles - crap!
Notes and Highlights: Dive buddy was Pablo Ducuron - should have not bothered suiting up, but was too optimistic. Surge and current was absolutely horrible - called the dive after dropping down to see if the conditions on the bottom were any better than the surface - it wasn't.
